Enough – 6-8 July, Sydney
TEAR National Conference:
We live in a culture that is held captive to a vision of growth: where privilege, entitlement, exploitation and endless accumulation are the norm. But we yearn for a Kingdom culture, where followers of Jesus have been freed to practise Christ’s vision of sufficiency: living in solidarity, humility, justice and equality. TEAR Australia’s “ENOUGH” conference is an opportunity to be uplifted by this vision. To be transformed by a Kingdom culture, and empowered to live it out in today’s empire-ruled culture, through Christian community. Together, we will explore what it means to have had enough (of poverty, injustice and excuses), and what it means to have enough (sufficient for our needs).

Ever since I have reconnected with this website,I am attempting to practise those beatitudes that are relevant to my context.I am praying daily for the necessary strength and courage-but with results that I would best describe as ephemeral and temporary.Dave had once said to me that in most people,he has seen ‘temporary, ephemeral changes’only and hence,I should not be disheartened. The problem is that with this level of change,I can’t stand upto an authoritarian,baton-wielding policeman standing in front of me.Neither can I survive a prison sentence with this level of change. It is obvious to me that deeper levels of transformation are needed to truly stand upto evil. And these elude me still-after many, many years of devotion-first to the Person of Jesus and now to the Gohonzon(the buddhist object of worship).Still,I am engaged in both prayer as well as an active dialogue with my object of worship.
