Jesus Radicals

Even when they call us mad, when they call us subversives and communists and all the epithets they put on us, we know we only preach the subversive witness of the Beatitudes, which have turned everything upside down —Oscar Romero

I have never met anyone who told me they were with the “Jesus Radicals”, but they have a great web site, and reading their stuff makes my heart glow.
They run a very interesting online forum that lists location for it’s members – could be a good way to link up with good people.

I was inspired by Dave’s encouragement to ‘be the change I want to see’ and to live out the Beatitudes when he spoke at Greenbelt at Sunday. I’m not sure how well I shall manage to live up to what is required but I shall think about the implications and give it a try.

I have been known to post on the British section of the Jesus Radicals forum, Ralph, although I wouldn’t call myself one.

I have a blog where I think about ‘Living Generously’ – another idea from Greenbelt, and living out the Beatitudes should fit in well with that. I also have a website, which looks at some of the issues of living generously, ethically, sustainably and such-like, aimed mostly at local people, but read by people all over the world, which I don’t object to. Inspiration and encouragement are always welcome.

My blog can be found at http://living-faith.blogspot.com/ and my website at http://www.generoustown.co.uk/

Thanks Karin! and wow! great sites! (click Karin’s links, people!)
It would be nice if we could get a transcript of what Dave said at Greenbelt and post it up here. I’ll see if we can get one organised. If we do, it’ll be posted on the front page of the site.

Your comment inspired me to rush back to the Jesus Radicals forum, (forums.jesusradicals.com) (and look up all your posts!) and again I loved what I read. I was a bit sorry to see so few posts in the Australia/New Zealand section, but then, I haven’t posted there at all so I can hardly complain.

Some years back I set up TEAR Australia’s online community (tear.org.au/community/), but it hasn’t really been a hotbed of activity 😐

I’m starting to wonder if there aren’t too many good forums and too few people living/believing/doing/being the change we want to see.

Glad you liked the sites. 🙂 I thought Dave said he would post his talk on the Servants website (http://www.servantsasia.org/), but can’t see it there yet. I did get a transcript with amendments from the Servant’s stall at Greenbelt, along with a lovely red t-shirt I plan to wear to house group when we next meet – not sure about walking along the High Street in it, but I might.

If anyone wants to hear the talk, CDs and MP3 downloads are available from the Greenbelt shop (http://www.greenbelt.org.uk/shop/talks/details.php?ref=GB06-22).

In fact it looks like most of what Dave said is already on this site. I can’t click on the three links at the top of the page when I use Firefox to view. However, I had a quick look from work and found they work fine on Internet Explorer so I can now read what they say. Once I’m on the other pages the links on the left work fine in Firefox.

Don’t work in Firefox??? I figured they just didn’t work, and they were one of the sections of the site that Andrew (the great guy who has done almost all of the work on this site) was still getting to. They’ve never worked for me, but I’ve never tried them on ie.

Thanks for the heads-up, Karin. I’ll look into it.

And thanks for posting too! it’d be nice if you hung around 🙂

Thanks Ralph & Karin for sharing this discussion. Great to take a look at your website, Karin. It’s inspiring and practical – I’m hoping to see if I can set something up for my locality – it’s great being inspired by our global community, but making links locally is vital, that’s what it’s all about. You’ve given me some ideas to work on…
