I am floating a few feet off the ground today even though my plane from Thailand touched down securely last week. The reason for my euphoria: To watch the remarkable progress in the project we are supporting in northern Thailand.

I first related the story of Kru Nam in my book, Not for Sale. She is an artist who rose to a righteous rage when she met children in the town of Chiang Mai, Thailand, who were victims of sex trafficking. Kru Nam took to barging into karaoke clubs and rescuing the boys and girls.

When I first met Kru Nam a year ago, she was wrestling with the dilemma of caring for over 125 rescued children with a small staff and precious few resources. She had secured a piece of property near the Golden Triangle region of Northern Thailand, but she and the kids had to live in tents and bamboo huts.

On my trip last week, however, I saw the dream of a children’s center come to life. Three dormitories are under construction, with major aid from UNICEF and Not for Sale chipping in.

But that’s not sufficient space, and does not fund programming to develop the kids. For $60,000, we can build an additional two dormitories and recreation facilities, while launching an education and health program. Please be generous and enable us to give these children the kind of life they deserve.
