Not for Me
This is the first song I ever recorded – shaky voice, steady resolve. ‘Not For Me’ articulates where I stand over against the narcissist, capitalist, materialist status quo. I am determined that as long as I live: ‘I won’t raise my hat to status. I won’t bow my knee to wealth, But I’ll sing and dance for justice with the wretched of the earth.’ The song was a recorded in a single take in the basement under St Andrews, Vulture Street, South Brisbane in 2006. I was on lead vocals with Peter Branjerdporn on backing vocals and electric guitar, David Fittell on bass guitar and Paul Young on drums. Andrew Kennedy mixed it. Matthew Gray mastered it.
