my burdon is lifted
as i arrived home just now, i realised that midnight had slipped past and it’s easter sunday.
so i tossed my rock into the front yard, for my burdon has been lifted.
half way through lent i went to a Dave Andrews ‘we can be’ talk. it was Really Quite Good. my best thing was the one about the meek, which has become “i will get angry but never get aggressive”. that’s always seemed like a bit of a stretch to me, and anger and aggression have never been my problems. but through the discussion i realised that cynicism (in which i do indulge) is a passive-aggressive behaviour. and while the virtue of the meek is hard to understand, i know they’re not cynical.
it’s just another tiny step on a long journey, but i’m going to try to let express my anger more honestly, instead of letting it twist up inside me and come out as cynicism.
